The lid opens by spring force when the "lock" in front of the lid is gently pressed slightly downwards.

The boxes lock tightly together when you separate the boxes, press the lock on the side of the case below lightly while pushing the case straight up from the bottom, the locks will of course break with excessive force, be careful. All you have to do is press the lock until you notice that the box has slipped off. Then release the case by gently pushing straight up.
