The goal was to develop a speaker with the closest possible sound, character and feel to the classic Jensen C12K, one of the most popular speakers in the family, currently in use in many Fender® amplifiers… in half the weight.
To satisfy this requirement, Jensen designed the N12K, featuring its exclusive Neodymium magnet design. The process went through a very accurate analysis and optimization of the overall sound, starting from the same vintage-inspired, seamed cone membrane used in the C12K. The frequency response curve of the two speakers are strikingly close, as well as most of the key elements and parameters.
Once satisfied with the tone, the Jensen R&D put special attention to give to the N12K a traditional, almost familiar response to the player's touch, to return the "feel and dynamics" of a classic speaker, refined by countless playing and listening sessions.
Installing the new Jensen N12K speakers in their amplifiers will allow the players the unique opportunity of shaving off 4 to 5 lbs of weight for each replaced traditional ceramic speaker of equivalent power rating, even its direct ancestor, the C12K. The N12K weights just above 2Kgs!
The Jensen commitment is that not a single ounce of tone shall be lost!
